Prabhat Kumar Mukhopadhyay, a fiction writer honored with the ‘Kuntalin’ award, was born on 3rd February 1873 in his maternal uncle’s house in Dhatri village of Burdwan district. He started his literary career by writing poetry. After that, he gained special fame by writing short stories. One of the characteristics of his stories is that he analyzed the complex human life in a simple, straightforward and simple way. He used to write under the pseudonyms ‘Shrimati Radhamani Devi’ and ‘Shrijanwarchandra Sharma’. He wrote a total of 14 novels including his best novel ‘Ratnadeep’.
