Gitanjali by Rabindranath Tagore – Bengali Poetry Book pdf

Gitanjali was first published in August 1910 (Bhadra, 1317 BS) with a total of 158 lyric poems from the Santiniketan Library Department. Almost all the lyric poems are Rabindranath’s own melodies and are devotional compositions with Brahmanical sentiments.

The first book of poetry, Song Offerings (Gitanjali), was first published by the Indian Society in London in 1912. Rabindranath Tagore himself translated and published poems from Gitanjali and several other contemporary books of poetry. In 1913, Rabindranath Tagore was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for this book of English poetry.
